Realistic & Honest Sustainability
We take a realistic and honest approach to environmental sustainability as we know it is impossible to be perfect. There are some amazing products/solutions out there that allow us to drastically reduce our impact on the environment. If you ever have unique solutions or ideas, please feel free to share them with us! Shoutout to organizations like LACOE , Algalita, Surfrider LA, & The Plot that support our initiatives for environmentally sustainable service!

Burlapped
We are always conscious of the waste streams that exist within our business. After we tossed out our first round of burlap and plastic, we decided to never do it again. So, we started our project, Burlapped . We aim to divert burlap and plastic waste from landfills by collaborating with passionate creatives and environmentalists in LA to upcycle this waste.

Plastic Free Coffee
2 months into starting Anomaly, we very quickly made the conscious decision to switch to reusable aluminum cups for all cold drinks. Customers can take them home, wash them, or recycle them to prolong this cup's lifecycle :) These cups are affordable, really easy to source, and come in paper sleeves; we encourage every coffee shop to use them!

Glass & Ceramics First
For events and pop-ups we aim to use either ceramics or glass to minimize the waste we generate. Starting in 2025 we brought on the best reusable cups in the game with GaeaStar clay cups. Additionally, we work with local ceramists like Heather M. Lott for awesome sets of ceramics.

Creative Reuse
We are always finding new ways to reuse products that would end up in landfill. The more uses we can get out of one product, the slower the impact to the environment. Early on, we used to cut and join used cardboard we got from the community to make boxes for shipping. Take a look below at our early stage recycled boxes :)
